Cody McKee leads Spirit Church in worship

Our Beliefs

Purpose, Mission, Vision, Strategy, and Core Values

Purpose

The purpose of Spirit Church is to PLEASE GOD.

Purpose answers the question, why do we exist?  Everything Bartlesville Spirit Church does must Please God.

Mission

The mission of Spirit Church is to share the LOVE, JOY, AND PEACE of Jesus Christ to the Least, Last, and Lost.

Mission answers the question, what are we supposed to be doing?

Our Mission is to share the love, joy, and peace of Jesus Christ to the least, last, and lost.

The LEAST are children and youth

(Luke 9:46-48)  An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest. 47 But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side48 and said to them, “Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great.”

The LAST are the less fortunate (orphans, widows, poor)

(Matthew 25:42-43) For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’

The LOST are all those far from God

(Luke 19:10) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

Vision

Our vision is to be a unified church with a great commitment to the great commandment and the great commission.  Through passionate worship, healthy relationships, relevant discipleship, gift-oriented ministry, and intentional evangilism, we will lead people from where they are to where God wants them to be.

Strategy

(How do we get to where we want to be?)

Experience Love

as you worship (Sunday worship experience)

Experience Joy

as you connect (Connect groups) and grow (Spirit University)

Experience Peace

as you serve (Team Spirit) and go (Outreach and Missions)

A great commitment to the great comandment and the great commission

Matthew 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” 37 And he said to him,“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Matthew 28:19-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

To "Love the Lord your God with all your heart" is to WORSHIP

To "Baptize them" is to CONNECT

To "Teach them to obey all things" is to GROW

To "Love your neighbor as yourself" is to SERVE

To "Go and make disciples" is to GO

Discover the Beliefs of our Church

We teach, memorize, and live the Word of God
The four cardinal doctrines of our church are

  1. Jesus SAVES – eternal life and forgiveness of sins can be obtained through the finished work of Jesus Christ
  2. Jesus HEALS  – God still does the miraculous in the present age
  3. Jesus EMPOWERS – the fullness of the Spirit empowers the Believer and is referred by Jesus as the “promise of the Father”
  4. Jesus is COMING BACK SOON – Jesus is returning for His bride – the church.  That return could be today!

Apostle’s Creed

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,  suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the universal Church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
